Uncertain Blue was my first exhibition, held at Photobook Cafe in London for two days. It captured the life of residents in Lvjiaying, an urban village in Beijing, built by local landlords to house migrant workers. Hidden behind the city's skyscrapers, this community faced potential demolition in March 2025 without official notice. People carried on with daily life, caught between hope and anxiety, and I was able to document that fragile, uncertain moment.
The exhibition unfolds in three parts: photographs mounted on foam board and suspended with fishing line, giving a more intimate way of seeing; a documentary that pays tribute to director Anqi Ju's 2000 work; and a corner where fishing lines hold fragments of interviews from local residents, interwoven with photos of their living conditions. Visitors can enter this space to immerse themselves in the narratives by reading them.
